Our Approach
Our Approach
Direct implementation - Taking a "hands-on" approach we do the actual implementation by training our own national team/staff and managing all construction. We consider this approach as more successful, in ensuring both accountability and quality. We plan for ARI to hold to a size that allows us to be nimble and very good.
State-of-the-art design, analysis, and construction capabilities - From the backgrounds of carefully selected program staff, ARI brings expertise in construction. Our sound approach to shelter and other construction in a humanitarian setting includes a commitment to beneficiary and community participation in our projects, use of appropriate and cost effective technology, and particular expertise in structures that incorporate seismic safety.
Collaboration and partnerships with other organizations and local communities to support a holistic approach to providing for beneficiaries - In order for families to fully recover from disasters, ARI develops strategies that address needs beyond its construction expertise and scope of funding. While ARI remains steadfast in being recognized for its shelter and construction expertise, we form collaborative and joint funding partnerships with other NGOs that are recognized as experts in sectors other than construction.
Quality control and assurance program - ARI’s competitive edge with quality construction is two-fold. First, implementing directly, with our skilled construction managers directing projects rather than monitoring others, assures more quality control, timeliness, and beneficiary satisfacition of projects. Secondly, by hiring and training our own construction staff, we again assure quality through staff who are motivated to learn and perform well, and we significantly reduce the risk of corner-cutting and corruption.
